My oh my how high school football has changed

In no way shape or form am I trying to disrespect any team on this post just sharing some of my observations.

Around 10 years or so, the Region D champion was in all honesty the state champion in D1 or D2. The number of titles the LPD put up in the 90's is unreal. Today winning the Region D is a great accomplishment but it is not an automatic State Title by any stretch. Regardless of who wins Saturday's Region D title game between CW and PV they will be underdogs to the defending state champions. Giles is huge but Giles is also Giles. Slow, and strong. Honestly, I dont think there is anyway CW could beat Giles. Again, no offense to CW but they do not match up well with Giles at all. PV would be a underdog in the game but would have a much better chance of winning. Why? Speed, coaching, and memory. Giles got romped the last time they played PV and have never slowed down the spread, ever. In last years D2 State Title game MP ran wild on Giles, if not for a missed extra point they could've went back to back. Now lets say PV/CW goes to state again underdogs. Gretna, more speed than either team and as much big game experience. Essex has a RB that is a D1 prospect, and we all know how good one back can be. From Babb, Terrell, and Pierman back to our great backs of Jones and Clark. It's going to be an uphill battle for the LPD in the coming weeks, and this doesn't even begin to touch on the enrollment factor that our schools face.

In D1 Norton is going to state 13-0 riding high. That is going to happen. When they get there they will see a familar foe to the LPD William Campbell. They have the speed and strength to match up with the Raiders. So far this year WC has defeated both Giles and Gretna both ranked 1 and 2 for most of the season at the D2 level. Can the LPD win state again? Sure, but it's going to be tough. They've got more students, as much talent, and are playing a whole lot closer to home.

I do know this regardless of who wins Saturday I'll be somewhere watching a half state game to root on the LPD.

memory? pv had better be worried about giles' memory of "ruts" the last time they played.

If and thats a big if PV plays Giles, you know it's got to be the Appy factor. Giles hasn't beat PV since 96 either of course it's been fewer meetings. PV/CW round 2 is going to be a great game.

    Say PV beats Clintwood.

They go to Giles more than likely. Say PV wins this one. It will be by a touchdown at the most.

PV knows how to handle the single-wing offense.

It seems to me that you are the one that started. Why dont you explain what you meant by the appy factor? Are you instigating that pv will win big? I wish you could meet lpdftbl. He knows more about football than most coaches in the league. I feel pretty confident that had he not chose the career path that he took that he would be the head coach of a school in the lpd,[Appalachia of course]. Why do you want to critize a man because he stated his opinion, after which to dissed APPALACHIA? Where are the mods when something like this happens? I have alot of respect for lpd to keep it clean. I wish all the schools in the league had the loyalty that lpdftbl has for Appy. PVFAN get a life& quit trying to start something

It's someone that can't respect other people's opinions. Like saying I was on drugs for saying JIB would beat APPY.

I'm not sure what he meant, but if I was guessing I would say the Appy factor would mean not winning in quite some time against Powell Valley is in the back of their mind. But I wouldn`t write that in stone, it`s just that I've heard him say the same thing before.

Re: My oh my how high school football has changed

Saying someone only plays kids because they are rich is what started it. This board on topics like this is ridiculous. I'm glad LPDFTBL knows alot about football, thats great. I enjoy football and like talking about it, but posting something like this just my observations has led once again to jealousy and hatred out of a bunch of adults. Which to me, is sad. Do I think PV will win state this year? No, if you want my honest opinion I think they'll lose to Giles. I hope they win, because I know the players, the coaches, and thats where I went to school. I'm sure everyone else on here feels the same way about their school. If you dont you dont need to be watching high school football. Mindset does play somewhat into the outcomes of games I think, sorry thats just my opinion. Appy had a better team than PV did in 02 and lost. Mindset? Bad game? Just something that happened, I dont know. But it did happen. It's kids playing a game, there giving it all they have for their school. At the end of every playoff game that I've been to since I stopped playing, I've always stood and looked and the losing team for a moment, that awful it's over feeling has hit them. There never going to be able to represent their school, their town, their teamates, or themselves on a football field again. So, if by posting my opinions on how teams on the other end of the state are better than us has set off a few people I apologize. BTW, I've tried to meet LPDFTBL on several occassions and never had the opportunity. It's alot like me and PHD on a lesser level we argue alot but we respect each others opinion and move on and are friends. So if anybody wants to see me Saturday I'll be on the PV side then the Appy side, and regardless of who wins or loses I hope the LPD can win a state title.
